What I Learned Rolling Out Sales Tools That Didn't Stick

I've spent time on both sides of sales tools — rolling them out and using them. The ones that stuck had a few things in common.

Tools tend to get bought before the process around them is defined. Adoption holds briefly, then drifts back to whatever already worked.

Often the tool isn't the problem — the process around it is.

A tool brought in to fix a symptom only helps once there's a clear definition of what “good” looks like to measure it against.

Reps tend to use the tools they helped choose, or at least understand why they were brought in.

I start smaller now: one workflow, one measurable outcome, one owner. Expand if it holds; learn before buying the next thing if it doesn't.

The longer version of that argument — why sales stacks keep failing and what to do about it — is in the Arkitech post. If this resonates, start there.
